Junior Friends of the Library

The Junior Friends will be holding an organizational meeting on Thursday September 21, 2016 from 4:00-5:00 PM in the Junior room at the library.  Plans for the upcoming year will be discussed including Halloween and Holiday events.   If you are a student ages 11-14, consider joining.   The Junior Friends help the Friends of the Swansea Public Library with their events and also volunteer in the children’s and junior departments with book shelving and organizing, decorating for the holidays, updating the bulletin boards and assisting with craft activities and community service activities.  Stop by the library today and fill out an application.

Anime Club

Do you like Anime? Are you curious about Japanese pop culture? Do you slurp your ramen while listening to vocaliods? Check out the Swansea Public Library Anime Club! We meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Open to Anime fans ages 12-17.

Teen Advisory Council

The Youth Services department of the Swansea Public Library is looking for new members for the Teen Advisory Council (for teens age 15-18) . Need community service hours?  Look no further.   Teens are needed to volunteer as readers, writers, bloggers and surfers to help at the library.  Tech savvy teens are needed to help older members of the community with technology.  Members will help write book reviews, plan programs and events, assist with the Summer Reading Programs, Teen Tech Week and Teen Read Week.  Teens will also host movie nights, gaming nights and help the library become more teen friendly. This is a great way to complete community service requirements.  Start a film club, help with our YA book club or begin a YA writing club.  How about gaming?   Or Music?  There is so much to do and learn and it all happens at the library.  Stop by the library and fill out an application or e-mail youth services librarian Carol Gafford at swanseayouthservices@gmail.com.  Volunteering is a great way to gain real life skills, enhance your college applications and build a better world.
