Quilting Basics

Always wanted to make a quilt but did not have the time?  It's a great time to learn to quilt. 

Join Quilter Diane Preble as she teaches beginning quilt making. Learn basic fabric cutting and piecing techniques. Basic stitching and seam pressing practices will also be demonstrated. Learn to measure, cut and piece specific quilting blocks (quilting squares) and how to assemble a quilt.

Tuesday Club: Family History Fundamentals

The Tuesday Club is an informal group of family historians who meet each Tuesday from 12-2 pm to research genealogy.  Interested in researching your family history?  We can help.  Whether a beginner or a family historian with years of experience, this friendly group is open to all.  Use the library resources such as Ancestry.com and information from our genealogy library.  Hitting a brick wall?  Visit the Tuesday Club for help.

Calling all True Crime fans! The Swansea Free Public Library is pleased to announce its newest book club, Murder Ink,  to be held the first Wednesday of the month at 7PM.  Read current and historical True Crime books.  From Ann Rule to Harold Schecter, we will discuss different true crime from A to Z.  Sign up at the library! Author Visit - Heidi Chiavaroli

Join local author Heidi Chiavaroli as she discusses her research on the Penikese Island leper colony, located off Cape Cod and part of the story in her newest book, Hope Beyond the Waves. 

Penikese Island is one of the Elizabeth islands that make up the town of Gosnold in MA. and has a long and interesting history.   

Books will be available for purchase.
