Annual Peeps Diorama Contest

It's the Swansea Free Public Library annual Peep Diorama Contest.  Create a diorama based on a book.  Use peeps marshmallow treats to create a scene from one of your favorite books in a shoe-box sized diorama.  The finished diorama is due at the library by Friday April 12.  Peep into your favorite book.  Don't delay.  Grab a "Peep" of the action!

Spring Clean Out: De-Clutter, Simplify, Get Organized! with Marilyn Cruickshank

If you feel stressed out by clutter and want to clean up and clean out, this free workshop can help.  Marilyn Cruickshank, a professional organizer and owner of Creative Simplicity, LLC will provide strategies and motivation to make small changes that will have a big impact to help you organize your Life!  This program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Fall River Public Library and the Swansea Free Public Library and will be held at the Fall River Public Library located at 104 North Main St., Fall River, MA.

Monthly Friends of the Library meeting

The Friends of the Library are a volunteer organization dedicated to enhancing the Swansea Public Library's services to its patrons and encouraging community use of the library. Funded by annual dues and fundraising activities, the Friends support programs for all ages and provide materials and equipment not covered by the annual operating budget.

Nature in Your Neighborhood

Join staff from Mass Audubon's Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary as we explore the wildlife around the Swansea area.  The program starts with a talk and activities, then we will explore the Village Park Trails behind the Library. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Swansea Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.  Register online or call 508-223-3060

Meet Dog Musher Karen Land and Sled Dog Noggin

Join us as Swansea welcomes Iditarod Racer Karen Land and her dog Noggin at The First Christian Congregational Church.  Karen will talk about her experiences racing in the Iditarod,  the annual long-distance sled dog race run in early March from Anchorage to Nome.  The Iditarod began in 1973 as an event to test the best sled dog mushers and teams but has evolved into today's highly competitive race. Karen will tell us about her adventures as a musher.
